Pacific Poker Room Review

(Note: this poker room does not allow U.S. players). Pacific Poker is definitely a favorite for Hold'em players looking for very juicy high-action tables and frequent promotions. Tournaments and cash games are all quite loose and most players quickly find a game they like - particularly if they're skilled and looking to make a profit. Add the newly upgraded software - with great graphics, improved search functions and a nice layout - to the juiciness of the games, and you have a poker room that's never short of players..

PacificPoker Summary

Due to U.S. legislation preventing credit card companies from collecting payments for wagers made by U.S. residents, Pacific Poker has determined to suspend all real-money gaming business in the United States.

Pacific Poker is part of the 888 Holdings group, the company behind the world's largest online casino, Casino-on-Net. As you can imagine, this means many wild casino customers can be found at the poker tables. Combined with lots of regular promotions, a lot of Texas Hold'em players come to Pacific Poker for juicy high-action tables and good bonuses.

The No-Limit and Pot-Limit cash games are strongly recommended for players looking to make a profit. At Pacific Poker's Limit Hold'em games, the viewed-flop percentages in full ring games are often in the high 50s and 60s - sometimes even up in the 70s! The No-Limit games are also among the juiciest and loosest online. Special promotions offered by the site include money-added tournaments, satellites to live events and regular freerolls.

The upgraded Pacific Poker software offers players a lot: great graphics and functionality, improved search functions and layout, nice looking 3-D avatars, integrated casino and bingo play, an always-visible cashier and improved multi-tabling abilities - up to four tables can now be tiled or cascaded at one time. Another very nice function that stands out from other poker sites is the graphic replay of hands - a useful tool for reviewing your play.

All variations of Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo are available at Pacific Poker. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit. Full-table games, shorthanded and heads-up tables are all available. Real-money player statistics as of March 2008 show 2,000 ring-game players at peak hours, and 8,000 tournament players at peak hours.

Overall, Pacific Poker runs some of the loosest games online, using software that plays well and is relatively fast. The software is updated frequently to ensure safety and stability, with almost no downtime as a result. PokersLibrary highly recommends Pacific Poker to Hold'em players wanting to take advantage of loose and juicy games.

PacificPoker Software + Graphics

The Pacific Poker software is privately owned and developed and shares no player base outside the 888 network.

The poker room's software has been through several updates since the site launched, but in May 2007 - and again in early '08 - it underwent some significant changes.

The previously ok software is now a veritable monster offering superb search functions, 3-D avatars, mini-view functions for multi-tabling, instant access to the cashier, bingo and casino games, and a vastly improved look and feel.

Among the new features: Three table views to choose from, six action buttons in every view, info boxes right at the table during tournaments showing key stats like players remaining and stack sizes, and a new unique sit-and-go tab.

Overall, the people at the 888 network have developed very good poker software while keeping some of the more useful advanced buttons of the original design, including check/fold and other smart in-game actions.

The graphics at Pacific Poker were vastly improved through the latest upgrade. The software now comes with customization, 3-D avatars, different backgrounds, different card deck designs and a completely new and improved look and feel.

The table functions are easy to learn and well oriented on the table, making playing a pleasure. The table is a nice green, with interchangeable graphic features..

PacificPoker Game Traffic

Traffic at Pacific Poker is great, but is highly concentrated to Hold'em ring games and tournaments. Most of the other traffic is in Omaha Hi-Lo and Seven-Card Stud. In all, Pacific Poker boasts decent traffic for the most popular games, with real-money cash-game traffic of 4,000 players at peak hours (March 2008).

PacificPoker Tournament Traffic

Pacific Poker is offering a number of freerolls to celebrate the WSOP. Pacific Poker boasts tournament traffic of 8,500-12,000 real money players at peak hours (March, 2008).

PacificPoker Game Variety

Pacific Poker has good game variety and offers all variations of Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo. The heavy concentration on the Hold'em tables makes it an especially good site for Hold'em players. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit. Full-table games, short-handed and heads-up tables are all available.

PacificPoker Rake

The is about average of the industry, with better offers at micro-levels and higher rake at the highest stakes. Pacific Poker has a "No Flop - No Drop" rake policy, like most sites. This means that Pacific Poker only rakes the pot when the flop is reached. A maximum of $1.25 is taken out of the pots up to $1/$2 games. At limits below $1/$2 the house takes less than $1, which gives good value for low limit players. At higher limits, $2/$4 and above, Pacific Poker rake max $4 and $5 on the $50-$100 tables. There is no difference in rake based on the number of players in the hand or at the table.

PacificPoker Soft Competiton

Probably the most juicy games online! But the good-old crazy 85% view flop percentages at $15/$30 tables is down to maybe 65-70% in best case. Thanks to Casino-on-Net's operations, there are a lot of less experienced poker players, often with a sweet tooth for gambling... At peak hours you typically find one or two full ring games (10 players) with a view flop percentage in the 50-ies or 60-ies. If you are looking to make a profit the Omaha Hi-Lo tables are very good as well.
